Toledo. Milagros Tolón, delegate of the Government of Spain in Castilla-La Mancha, has pointed out that the Government Delegation will collaborate actively in “facilitating and expediting the administrative procedures related to contracting, Immigration and Finance in view of the beginning of the agricultural campaign and the forecast that the harvest will be advanced and will be a good campaign”.
Statements made by the Government delegate to the media minutes before the beginning of the meeting of the Regional Commission on Migratory Flows in which Asaja, members of the Civil Guard and the National Police, as well as personnel of the General Administration of the State participated.
Guarantees for workers
Milagros Tolón recalled that the Committee on Migratory Flows “aims to ensure that labour immigration resulting from the temporary hiring of jobs for agricultural campaigns is carried out with guarantees for farmers and seasonal workers. In fact, this year the Government of Spain allocates more than 12 million euros to Castilla-La Mancha for the hiring of 2,224 unemployed workers in the agricultural sector. And specifically, in Toledo there will be 383 contracted, with a budget of more than two million euros.”
The delegate of the Government also stressed the commitment of the agricultural organizations “so that all the processing complies with the legality, respecting the rights and dignity of the workers who dedicate themselves these days to the work of the field”.
The objective is “to coordinate the work of all the actors involved in the development of the campaign: the General Administration of the State through its different units, the agricultural organizations, the Civil Guard and the National Police. We will listen to the organizations, know their doubts, suggestions and requests so that the campaign is carried out normally. A shared commitment with the central administration, as demonstrated in the meetings we hold periodically within the framework of the Committee on Migratory Flows.”
Asaja appreciates the work of the Government Delegation
For her part, Blanca Corroto, president of Asaja Toledo, thanked Milagros Tolón for convening the meeting, “because for us it is very important. The harvest campaign is just around the corner and then there is the olive campaign, and it is very important for Asaja this coordination because we have difficulty getting manpower. Unfortunately, there are people who take advantage of the situation in this sector to not do things well, especially on the issue of identity theft. A problem that was detected last year and that thanks to the Government Delegation and all those involved we began to tackle”.
