Toledo.- The Ministry of Education, Vocational Training and Sports, through the Higher Sports Council, has published an interim resolution of the call for "Aid to public entities with infrastructure to improve and optimize sports facilities and spaces that promote sustainable sports tourism", which grants a total of 2.2 million euros for a total of 16 projects in municipalities of Castilla-La Mancha, from the European funds of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan.
The delegate of the Government, Milagros Tolón, has pointed out the great opportunity that European funds represent for the development of Castilla-La Mancha thanks to the management carried out by the Government of Spain. “With these resources we are moving towards a model that is more sustainable and respectful of our environment, and that requires addressing the transformation of our country and our region from all perspectives.”
In this sense, “this call is aimed at granting investment grants to promote the sustainable and inclusive reform of sports facilities and spaces in which projects related to the sports tourism sector can be developed and the tourist industry associated with sport modernized”.
It is aimed at territorial public administrations and those public bodies and public law entities dependent on those public administrations, which are holders of facilities and/or sports spaces in which sustainable sports tourism activities can be carried out.
A total of 1,301 applications have been received, covering 1,616 projects with a total value of 664,437,413.39 euros. All this in a total of 1,563 facilities and sports complexes throughout Spain. The total amount allocated in this resolution is € 33,996,947.94.
The assessment criteria that have been taken into account are the following:
- Energy efficiency improvement (energy saving)
- Improved accessibility
- Improvement of sustainability (waste reduction, reuse, recycling).
- Digitization of the facilities
- Increased employment
- Territorial cohesion
- Implementation of an action plan, among others.
