Cuenca.- The delegate of the Government of Spain in Castilla-La Mancha, Milagros Tolón, together with the mayor of Cuenca, Darío Dolz, visited this morning the Urban Forest Innovation Lab (UFIL), the program for entrepreneurship in forest bioeconomy of the city of Cuenca led by the City of Cuenca.
In the visit to the facilities, the Government delegate has toured the various spaces in which entrepreneurs and companies will be able to opt in this new edition for training programs, attracting funding and, finally, mentoring related to entrepreneurship in the forest bioeconomy.
Since 2019, the start year, nearly 80 people have participated in the program, developing around 50 projects. In total, 45 companies are formed through the UFIL program, oriented to various activities such as integral forest management, furniture creation or sustainable construction.
The Government delegate took advantage of the visit to show once again the support of the Government of Spain to UFIL, contributing in this new edition “about two million euros through the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge”, in this “innovative initiative that uses local resources to generate economic activity”, promoting entrepreneurship and the circular economy.
Tolón has been accompanied, in addition to the Mayor of Cuenca, by the Vice-Rector of the Cuenca Campus of the University of Castilla-La Mancha, César Sánchez, and by the Sub-Delegate of the Government in Cuenca, Mª Luz Fernández.
With the contribution granted by the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (MITECO) to this initiative, the Urban Forest Innovation Lab (UFIL), is guaranteed its continuity in the period 2024-2025, after the definitive publication of the aid of the Biodiversity Foundation of MITECO, which has granted to this initiative 1,926,303 euros, 95% of the total amount of the project, which is around two million euros.
