Ciudad Real.- The delegate of the Government of Spain in Castilla-La Mancha, Francisco Tierraseca, thanked the rector of the University of Castilla-La Mancha (UCLM), Julián Garde, for the adherence of the academic institution to the VioGén System, for the protection of women victims of abuse.
It has done so after the signing of the agreement between the UCLM and the Delegation of the Government of Spain in Castilla-La Mancha, which will involve the Castilla-La Mancha university community having one more tool in the fight against gender violence and in the advancement of equality between women and men.
This heading completes the initial step taken between the two institutions in 2021, when the collaboration between UCLM and the Government Delegation was agreed in awareness-raising actions and in the programming of joint initiatives to promote equality in the higher education sector of the region.
With this new step, “all the infrastructure dependent on the UCLM” is made available to the victims, in addition to the protection and resources they already have, which “will represent a firm advance in the fight against violence against women”.
The document reaffirms the commitment of coordination and collaboration between the Government of Spain, through the Delegation, and the University of Castilla-La Mancha to carry out actions in defense and protection of victims, in addition to deepening the actions of information of the existing resources at its disposal, as well as of sensitization and awareness “to involve the youngest in this fight, because they are fundamental agents for the advancement of equality,” said Tierraseca.
The VioGen System is a common database for all Security Forces and Bodies and institutions and allows to integrate, in a single system, all police, judicial and penitentiary information on cases of gender violence.
Currently, there are 4,401 active cases in Castilla-La Mancha.
