Cuenca.- The General Directorate of Traffic has carried out, between 17 and 23 of this month of April, a specific control campaign in the monitoring of speed, as one of the key risk factors in the road accident, in which agents of the Traffic Group of the Civil Guard of Cuenca have participated. The campaign was organised at European level by the association RoadPol (European Roads Policing Network).
In this campaign, the Cuenca Civil Traffic Guard Group has carried out 18,237 vehicle checks and processed 813 complaints. On conventional roads, 4,901 vehicles have been checked and 249 complaints have been processed; on the crossing, 150 vehicles and 10 complaints and on motorways and motorways, a total of 13,186 vehicles, 554 being reported.
The campaign has aimed to control especially sections of risk associated with speed, as well as those points where the circulation exceeds the established limit and there is a high accident rate, all following the recommendations of international and European organizations that urge the agencies in charge of road safety in the different countries to monitor that the established speed limits are met.
It is necessary to remember that inadequate speed is the third most common concurrent factor in traffic accidents, especially in those with fatalities, with more than 251 cases in 2022.
