Albacete- The Assistant Secretary of Justice, Ana Sánchez, participated today in the presentation of the project of sustainable rehabilitation of the judicial building of Hellín (Albacete) and the project of compensation for carbon footprint that will be developed in the region of Yeste (Albacete), in the plenary hall of the City of Hellín.
Ana Sánchez explained that these two initiatives are part of a “country project” that the Government has launched with the Justice 2030 Funds/Recovery Transformation and Resilience Plan (Justice 2030/PRTR) with the objective “to recover the country after the pandemic with new infrastructures that simultaneously incorporate digitalization, the fight against climate change and social and territorial cohesion”.
The rehabilitation of the judicial building of Hellín involves an investment of 820,000 euros and is scheduled to begin in September 2023. This project is part of the investment plan of 60 million euros, collected in the framework of Justicia 2030/PRTR, with the objective of sustainably rehabilitating 37 courts.
To this end, a rehabilitation standard has been developed based on the LEVELs system, in the process of incorporation into a European directive. The rehabilitation standard has 11 areas of intervention, ranging from energy efficiency to the urban agenda, through health or accessibility.
One of these areas of intervention is the compensation of the environmental impact of the building. The judicial headquarters are old buildings in which, although significant investments are made in energy rehabilitation, carbon neutrality is not going to be acquired. Therefore, in each construction, compensation has been incorporated through environmental actions in order to reach neutrality.
In addition, a pilot project for the compensation of CO2 in the judicial party of Hellín, specifically in the area of Yeste, has been opened with an investment of 1.5 million euros.
These two projects aim to reduce the environmental impact with less consumption of paper, energy and fewer trips when going to justice.
The mayors of Hellín and Yeste, Ramón García and Cortés Buendía, and the provincial delegate of Sustainable Development in Albacete, María Llanos Valero, also participated in the presentation of these two innovation projects. He has accompanied the Undersecretary of Justice, the Deputy Delegate of the Government in Albacete, Miguel Juan Espinosa.
