The subdelegate highlights the investments of the Government to enhance the tourist attraction of Toledo and its sustainability
Toledo.- The subdelegate of the Government in Toledo, Carlos Ángel Devia, attended today the inauguration of the stand of Castilla-La Mancha in FITUR, coinciding with the celebration of the day dedicated to the province of Toledo.
Carlos Ángel Devia explained that the Government of Spain, through the Secretary of State for Tourism, is preparing a Sustainable Tourism Strategy of Spain 2030 to face the challenges of the sector in the medium and long term, promoting the three pillars of sustainability: socioeconomic, environmental and territorial.
In this regard, he has highlighted the investments of the Government to promote both the province with actions in different regions and the capital itself, as a tourist destination from the perspective of sustainability.
The Government’s deputy delegate has been convinced that 2022 has been the year of the recovery of the tourism sector, after the effects of the pandemic, highlighting the positive influence of the Tourism Sustainability Plans approved by the Government in the Sectoral Conferences of Tourism.
In short - said the deputy delegate of the Government - the commitment of the Government of Spain in support of the tourism sector cannot be questioned, which, in the case of Toledo, the investments made and projected last year exceeded seven million euros.
In this way, Carlos Ángel Devia referred to the Sustainability Plan in Destination of the Oropesa Bell, approved last December, and which will be managed by the County Council of Toledo with a budget of 2.5 million euros.
This plan, with an investment horizon of three years, from 2023 to 2025, will be financed with European ‘Next Generation’ funds and will boost the tourism resources of a region that brings together a total of 23 municipalities.
Finally, Carlos Ángel Devia wanted to remember that the city of Toledo, in addition to the investments foreseen in the Tourism Sustainability Plans, has also obtained funding for emblematic projects through the General State Budgets such as the works in the Postal Museum, endowed with an investment of 2.3 million; the lighting of San Juan de los Reyes, (351,097.27 euros); the works of repair of the roof of the Transparent of the Cathedral of Toledo (984,035.20); the investment destined to the Walls of Toledo (592,000 euros); the 300,000 euros for the Museum of Toledo.
