HOMOLOGATION OF FOREIGN NON-UNIVERSITY STUDIES
HOW CAN I APPLY FOR THE APPROVAL OF MY COMPULSORY SECONDARY EDUCATION/BACCALAUREATE STUDIES ABROAD?
The request is made in two moments:
- Completing the application, in a TELEMATIC way, across the ELECTRONIC HEADQUARTERS OF THE MINISTRY OF EDUCATION AND VOCATIONAL TRAINING. You can access it in the following link:
http://sede.educacion.gob.es/sede/login/inicio.jjsp?idConvocatoria=46 - Once the application has been completed, it must PRINT IT and PRESENT IT IN ANY OFFICIAL REGISTER (Offices of Attention to the Citizen of the City Council where he resides, or any other official register), along with the rest of the documentation necessary for its processing and that is listed below.
IT IS NOT NECESSARY FOR YOU TO GO TO THE OFFICE OF CITIZEN INFORMATION AND REGISTRATION OF THE GOVERNMENT DELEGATION TO CARRY OUT THE PROCEDURE OR TO PRESENT THE DOCUMENTATION. In any Official Register you will be able to present the documentation and you will be stamped with the conditional registration leaflet that must be previously completed.

DO I HAVE TO PAY A FEE TO COMPLETE THIS PROCEDURE?
You do not need to pay a fee if you are applying for Compulsory Secondary Education homologation.

HOW CAN I ENROLL IN AN EDUCATIONAL FACILITY WHILE MY HOMOLOGATION IS BEING RESOLVED?
If you need to enroll in any school you can fill out a CONDITIONAL ENROLLMENT FLYER, in the same telematic request. You must print it, sign it and deliver it, along with the application and other documentation, to the registry office. There It will be sealed so that you can present it in the center Educational where you want to carry out your studies.
This document will allow you to start your studies until you obtain the homologation credential.
(This document, once stamped by the Registry Unit where the application was filed, shall have the character of a leaflet accrediting that such application has been filed and, within the term of its validity, shall allow the aforementioned inscription in the same terms as if the homologation or validation had been granted, although on a conditional basis and for the period established therein.
The issuance of this Leaflet is carried out under the personal responsibility of the applicant and does not prejudge the final resolution of the file. In the event that the resolution does not take place in the requested terms, the conditional registration and the results of the examinations carried out as a result of it will be null and void.)
WHAT DOCUMENTS DO I NEED TO PROVIDE ALONG WITH THE APPLICATION?
- If you do not have a DNI/NIE, you must provide VERIFIED COPY OF AN IDENTITY DOCUMENT (passport/country identity card/other). If you have a National Identity Document (DNI) or Foreigner’s Identification Number, IT IS NOT NECESSARY TO PROVIDE ITunless he expressly objects to the Education Administration verifying it. If you object to verification, you must provide a verified copy of your ID or NIE.

As a general rule, the following criteria apply:
- Verified copy of the official degree or diploma whose approval is requested or, if applicable, official certification accrediting the completion of the corresponding final exams.
- Verified copy of the certification accrediting the courses carried out, which includes the subjects followed, the qualifications obtained and the academic years in which the respective courses were carried out. The following courses must be provided, as requested:
HOMOLOGATION TO THE DEGREE OF GRADUATE IN COMPULSORY SECONDARY EDUCATION: Academic certifications of the 4 courses carried out abroad that are equivalent to the four of the Compulsory Secondary Education in Spain (4 years).
HOMOLOGATION TO THE DEGREE OF GRADUATE IN COMPULSORY SECONDARY EDUCATION AND VALIDATION OF THE 1ST BACCALAUREATE: Academic certification of the 4 courses carried out abroad that are equivalent to the four of the Compulsory Secondary Education in Spain (4 years) and of the course carried out abroad equivalent in Spain to 1st of Baccalaureate (5 years).
HOMOLOGATION TO THE BACHELOR'S DEGREE: Certifications of the last 3 courses carried out abroad that are equivalent in Spain to 4th ESO and 1st and 2nd Baccalaureate, as well as the final title of said teachings (Baccalaureate). There are countries that do not have a final degree, but only a final certificate of Baccalaureate (3 years+degree)
TO THE BACHELOR’S DEGREE IN COMPULSORY SECONDARY EDUCATION AND TO THE BACHELOR’S DEGREE: Academic certifications of the 4 courses carried out abroad that are equivalent to the four of the Compulsory Secondary Education in Spain, academic certifications of the 2 years of the Baccalaureate and the final title of said teachings (Baccalaureate) carried out abroad. There are countries that do not have a final degree, but only a final certificate of Baccalaureate (6 years + title).
VALIDATION OF 1ST BACCALAUREATE: Certification of marks of having passed in Spain the teachings of G.E.S.O or credential of homologation to the title of G.E.S.O and the academic certification of the course done abroad equivalent to 1st of Baccalaureate in Spain.
No application will be processed for the approval of foreign studies at a level lower than the Compulsory Secondary Education Degree.a. At least ten years of schooling must be accredited.
FOR THE PRESENTATION OF THIS DOCUMENTATION YOU MUST TAKE INTO ACCOUNT THE FOLLOWING:
- When the studies prior to the foreigners have been carried out in accordance with the Spanish educational system, a verified copy of the official academic certification accrediting them, or of the schooling book or qualification book and/or of the academic history.
- If the documentation provided to the applications for covalidation/homologation is insufficient to be able to resolve the same, the address indicated for the purposes of notifications will be required to make the corresponding amendment.
All documents that are contributed to these procedures must be ORIGINALS AND ISSUED BY THE COMPETENT AUTHORITIES FOR THIS PURPOSEin accordance with the legal system of the country concerned. They must also be duly translated into Spanish.
HOW CAN I LEGALIZE MY ACADEMIC DOCUMENTS?
It is not necessary to legalize your documents if they have been issued in UN STATE OF THE EUROPEAN UNION O SIGNATORY OF THE AGREEMENT ON THE EUROPEAN ECONOMIC AREA. You also do not need to legalize your documents if they have been issued in SWITZERLAND, by bilateral agreement with the European Union.
IN OTHER CASES, DOCUMENTS ISSUED ABROAD MUST BE DULY LEGALIZED UNDER THE FOLLOWING CONDITIONS:
- Documents issued in countries that have signed the Hague Convention: SINGLE LEGALIZATION OR "APOSTILLE" extended by the competent authorities of the country. - For the rest of the countries, the documents must legalise through diplomacy. To do this, you must go to:
- Ministry of Education of the country of origin for degrees and certificates of studies and in the corresponding Ministry for birth and nationality certificates.
- Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the country where these documents were issued.
- Diplomatic or consular representation of Spain in that country.
WHERE CAN I TRANSLATE MY DOCUMENTS?
The official translation can be done:
- For any diplomatic or consular representation of Spain abroad.
- By the diplomatic or consular representation in Spain of the country of which the applicant is a citizen or, where appropriate, of the country of origin of the document.
- By an official translator abroad and duly legalized the signature of said official translator.

In the High Inspection Area of Education of the Government Delegation in Cantabria Applications for validation/approval of non-university foreign studies to the Bachelor's Degree in Compulsory Secondary Education, validation to the 1st of Baccalaureate and approval to the Bachelor's Degree from the following countries are resolved:

The Ministry of Education and Vocational Training It will be the one that resolves the homologation and validation of the applications of the studies of Professional Training, Artistic and Sports Teachings.
The processing through Electronic Headquarters allows the interested party keep track of the status of your file at any time and obtain the CREDENTIAL to the resolution of the same.
WE REMIND YOU THAT THE HOMOLOGATION CREDENTIALS ARE NO LONGER ISSUED BY THE HIGH EDUCATION INSPECTORATE.
IF YOU HAVE RECEIVED A NOTIFICATION FROM THE MINISTRY THAT YOUR APPROVAL HAS BEEN RESOLVED, YOU MUST DOWNLOAD YOUR CREDENTIAL FROM THE ELECTRONIC HEADQUARTERS OF THE MINISTRY OF EDUCATION AND VOCATIONAL TRAINING.
