It is a Plan of the Secretary of State for Security under the Ministry of the Interior, regulated by the Instruction of the Secretary of State for Security number 1/ 2014, whose purpose is to improve the security of our elders. The Government Delegation in Cantabria coordinates this Major Security Plan and the implementation of activities is the responsibility of the State Security Forces and Corps: Civil Guard and National Police Force
Greater Security Plan in Cantabria
The Plan focuses on three lines of action:
- Prevent the main threats detected for the safety of older people.
- To promote the trust of the elderly in the Security Forces and Corps, encouraging the development of proactive behaviors for the reporting of situations and crimes of which they may be victims.
- Improve the police response in their actions with the elderly.
Activities carried out within the framework of the Greater Security Plan:
- Informative conferences on different topics:
o Risks at home and on public roads.
o Risks arising from the use of the Internet and new technologies.
o Gender violence, domestic violence and elder abuse.
- Meetings with relatives of older people, in order to make this group aware of the risks to which older people are exposed, in order to achieve an early response to possible risk situations.
- Meetings with professionals linked to the safety of older people, for the same purpose as indicated in the previous section.
- Establishment of regular channels of communication and collaboration with entities and agencies involved in the safety of older people, to improve police response to situations of risk that they may suffer and thus achieve an early detection of such situations, minimizing harm to victims.
The requests of these actions by the municipal authorities, and any entity, association or organization, public or private, linked to the care, leisure, and/or care of elderly people, will be carried out by sending an email to the following addresses:
