The General Directorate of Traffic (DGT) launches this Friday, December 5, from 3 p.m. until midnight on Monday, December 8, the special mechanism for regulating, managing and monitoring traffic on the occasion of the Constitution Bridge, during which 143,000 trips are planned through the main communication routes of Cantabria.
At the national level, 5.7 million movements are expected, with a notable increase in roads to second homes, tourist areas and municipalities with a Christmas tradition.
The moments of greatest traffic intensity in Cantabria will be concentrated this Friday between 16.00 and 22.00 hours, as well as the morning of Saturday, December 6, a festive day in which there will also be short-distance trips to nearby leisure areas. The return is scheduled for Monday afternoon.
Faced with this increase in travel, the Civil Traffic Guard will deploy a special device to ensure safety and fluidity on the roads, with up to 180 agents deployed on the Cantabrian roads.
In case of adverse weather conditions, the DGT recalls the need to extreme precautions, reduce speed, increase safety distance and use vehicle lighting.
The DGT will report on the traffic situation through its website, telephone 011, variable signage panels and its social media accounts (@informacionDGT and @DGTes).
