The Cantabrian Hydrographic Confederation has begun maintenance and conservation work on the Miera River, in the vicinity of the town of Liérganes. This work is carried out with the aim of avoiding the completion of the Revolvo azud and ensuring the correct operation of the Automatic Information System (IAS) capacity station, as well as the fish scale of the azud itself.
On the course of the River Miera, near the town of Liérganes, accumulations of acarreo have been observed in the Revolvo Azud. These accumulations affect the measurement of fish stocks at the UPS capacity station located on the Miera River, as well as the correct functioning of the fish scale of the Azud itself, whose entrance is saturated.
The actions, with an investment of 12 000 €, will include the extraction of the shipments retained by the azud and their subsequent relocation.
This work is carried out through the public company Tragsa within the Maintenance and Conservation of Waterways Program developed by the Cantabrian Hydrographic Confederation outside urban areas, since in urban areas the conservation and maintenance of waterways are the responsibility of the municipalities.
In the year 2024, the investment made in conservation and maintenance works of waterways in Cantabria was 1.46 million euros, distributed in 68 actions in 41 municipalities.
