• The government delegate in Cantabria has attended together with the mayor, Rosa Díez, and the head of the State Road Demarcation in Cantabria, Rosendo Martínez
The government delegate in Cantabria, Pedro Casares, has supervised the works of improvement of the national road N-611 as it passes through the municipality of Polanco, a crossing in which the firm is being rehabilitated and proceeding to the elevation of pedestrian crossings to improve road and pedestrian safety.
The action, which is currently being developed and will be concluded soon, involves an investment of more than 586,000 euros by the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility in this crossing of the N-611 in Polanco, municipality in which other actions have recently been carried out until reaching a total investment of one million euros.
This was highlighted by the government delegate in Cantabria this Wednesday in the visit he made to the works together with the mayor, Rosa Díez, and the head of the State Road Demarcation in Cantabria, Rosendo Ruiz.
Casares explained that the Ministry of Transport has addressed this action in the N-611, in a stretch of just over 2.7 kilometers, due to the “deficient” state in which was the firm of this road that, despite giving a parallel service to the A-67, has “enough traffic”, especially of heavy vehicles.
Therefore, through the Demarcation of Roads, this work is executed through which “the entire firm is being renovated” and also, to give greater pedestrian safety, the elevation of the new pedestrian passes existing in the stretch of the performance is being executed.
Also, once the firm has been rehabilitated and through the painting works, the lanes are being narrowed to calm traffic and promote speed reduction. With this, the roadside area is also being increased to favor the circulation of bicycles as it is an area with a large influx of cyclists.
Casares recalled that the Ministry has also invested in recent months about 300,000 euros in the settlement of the N-611 firm as it passes through Requejada, in a stretch of more than one and a half kilometers, and has also improved a park adjacent to the national road, with an investment of 40,000 euros.
“In total, one million euros in investments from the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility in the municipality of Polanco and that show the commitment of the Government of Spain to improve our municipalities and the daily life of the citizens of Cantabria,” said the government delegate.
