The government delegate in Cantabria, Pedro Casares, has praised the Coral of Torrelavega as “an indisputable cultural reference” of Cantabria and has wished its president, José Nicasio Rodríguez for “100 more years” in which the entity remains “determinant” in the history of the city and “fundamental” in that of the region.
This has been expressed by Casares this Tuesday in the act for the Centenary of the Coral of Torrelavega held at the Municipal Theater Concha Espina and in which the president of Cantabria, María José Sáenz de Buruaga; the president of the Parliament, María José González Revuelta; and the mayor of Torrelavega, Javier López Estrada, have also intervened.
Casares has said that this Centenary of the Coral of Torrelavega “will remain in the collective memory of the city” as a day of “celebration and demand” of this cultural entity founded in 1925.
“You are to Torrelavega what Torrelavega is to the Coral. Two elements that unite, that coexist, that enrich each other together and that make the lives of the men and women of this city and Cantabria better and happier,” said the delegate.
In addition, it has valued the importance of music as “something that identifies us, makes us unique and recognizes us to the Cantabrians” and that is part of the traditions and history of the autonomous community and its citizenship.
To conclude, he thanked the “commitment” of the Coral de Torrelavega with the neighbors of the city and their willingness “always” to collaborate and participate and, above all, to be part of the “social and cultural life of our land”.
