Casares pointed this out this Friday in Cabezón de la Sal from where he responded to the “falsehoods” of the regional president, María José Sáenz de Buruaga, in her speech at the closing ceremony of the summer courses of this State University in the Palacio de la Magdalena de Santander.
The delegate regretted that the president of the PP spoke in that act of “cuts in the UIMP” when that “has nothing to do with reality”. “Since Pedro Sánchez became president, we have reversed precisely the PP cuts,” he said.
Casares has indicated in statements to the media that the UIMP has in this year 2025 a 31.9% more budget, contributed by the Government of Spain, than in the last year of the Executive of the PP of Mariano Rajoy that was “the one that reduced the budget of this university by 30%”.
“What we are doing, with the commitment of the Ministry of Universities and Minister Diana Morán, is to reverse these cuts,” he said, while defending the “extraordinary role” of the UIMP in Cantabria.
Casares stressed that “in Cantabria we are deeply proud of these summer courses and the extraordinary work of the rectoral team led by Carlos Andradas and the Government of Spain for the benefit of the public university”.
To conclude, the delegate reminded the regional president that he has the “outstretched hand” to all administrations and institutions “to work for the good of Cantabria, but for that we need loyal collaboration and that we all work together”.
