The delegate of the Government in Cantabria, Eugenia Gómez de Diego, attended on Thursday the closing ceremony of the 2024-2025 school year at the Military Residence of Social Action of Students 'Virgen del Puerto' of Santoña, popularly known as Patronato Militar, in which 144 troop soldiers have completed their preparatory training for access to the non-commissioned officers scale.
The ceremony, which took place in the center’s arms yard, was presided over by the General Director of Personnel Assistance of the Spanish Army, Joaquín Salas Alcalá, and was attended by civil and military authorities of Cantabria, including members of the municipal corporation and relatives of the students.
The graduates, belonging to the XXXVI promotion, have completed a demanding nine-month course, begun last October, with the aim of gaining access by internal promotion to the Non-Commissioned Officers Academy. In two weeks they will face the tests of access to that institution.
The military act has begun with the surrender of honours and the magazine to the troops. Next, prizes have been awarded to the most outstanding soldiers of the course in recognition of their dedication, effort and academic performance.
During the closing ceremony, Colonel Juan Castroviejo, director of the military residence, addressed the new graduates to congratulate them on their work and encourage them in the next challenge they face in their professional career.
The ceremony included a tribute to the fallen in Spain and ended with the singing of the anthem of the Academy of Noncommissioned Officers by the unit, followed by the traditional parade on the main street outside the quartering.
