The Cantabrian Hydrographic Confederation extends the control network of the Automatic Hydrological Information System (SAI CH Cantábrico) with the installation of a new meteorological station in the Puerto de la Braguía, Vega de Pas. This action, funded by the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan – NextGenerationEU, will allow a more precise and continuous monitoring of meteorological information in a strategic area of the Passiego Valleys.
The action consists of the execution of the civil work, with an approximate investment of 18 500 €. Once the works have been completed, the measurement equipment will be installed.
The Cantabrian SAI CH provides real-time data on water levels, circulating flows, recorded rains and temperatures collected at control stations.
In general, the raw information collected automatically in the bases of the UPS is updated five-monthly, hourly or daily, depending on the nature of the station, origin, typology, technology and characteristics of the service.
The improvement actions of the Cantabrian SAI CH are of special interest for agencies and administrations with competence in civil protection during the management of episodes of flooding, since the data obtained are fundamental for the early warning system and the decision support system, especially in the areas defined as areas with significant potential risk of flooding (ARPSIs).
Access to the information provided by the SAI CH Cantábrico is made through the main website of the Agency www.chcantabrico.es, and within the Hydrological Information section (chcantabrico.es).
