The delegate of the Government of Spain in Cantabria, Eugenia Gómez de Diego, has highlighted that since 2018, with the arrival of Pedro Sánchez to the Central Executive, Cantabria has seen increased deliveries on account by more than 800 million euros, which is an increase of 50% compared to the last year of the PP Government. In that period, the financing has gone from 1,639 million to the current 2,484 million planned for this year.
"No Government of Cantabria has ever had as many resources as the current Executive of María José Sáenz de Buruaga", said the delegate, who has framed this increase in the commitment of the Government of Spain to the territories and to strengthen essential public services such as health, education or social services, as well as in the "good progress of the Spanish economy".
In this sense, he pointed out that Spain has become "the locomotive of Europe, with an economy that leads growth and job creation", and has attributed this situation to "the successful public policies promoted by the central executive".
The delegate has pointed out that not only the Autonomous Community will increase its resources, but also the municipalities. In the case of Santander, account deliveries amounted in 2025 to 71.5 million euros, which represents an increase of 12.6% compared to the previous year, when the Cantabrian capital received 63.4 million.
In addition, Gómez de Diego has highlighted that the Government of Spain maintains the updating of accounts regardless of the processing of the General State Budgets, which guarantees "financial stability" to autonomous communities and municipalities. Something that, he recalled, did not happen under the PP Government, which in situations of budget extension "kept deliveries on account frozen, thus punishing territorial administrations and with it citizens."
Therefore, the delegate has trusted that, given the importance that these resources have for the Cantabrians and Cantabrians, the People's Party "abandons the destructive opposition" and does not hinder the validation of the decree in the Congress of Deputies."
