The Government delegate in Cantabria, Eugenia Gómez de Diego, highlighted on Wednesday the “decisive contribution” of the Government of Spain to the “historic” growth of the Vocational Training (VET) offer in the autonomous community, highlighting that, in the last four years, the Central Executive has financed the creation of 5,300 new training places in Cantabria, with an investment that exceeds 12.2 million euros.
According to Gómez de Diego, in the last year alone, 810 new FP places have been subsidized thanks to funding from the Ministry of Education, Vocational Training and Sports, headed by Pilar Alegría. “This sustained investment not only expands the educational offer, but better adapts it to the needs of the labor market and to challenges such as digital and energy transformation,” he said.
The delegate stressed that “the Government of Spain is being a key partner so that Cantabria can offer more and better training to its youth, especially in sectors with high demand for employment”.
In addition to the performances at FP, Gómez de Diego highlighted the central executive’s commitment to education as a whole, mentioning the more than 8.7 million euros allocated to the creation of 861 new places from 0 to 3 years in the region. “We are talking about an unprecedented investment in the earliest stage of education, which allows families to reconcile and ensures quality educational care from the first years of life,” he added.
The delegate concluded that “these data reflect the firm will of the Government of Pedro Sánchez to move towards a more inclusive, modern and connected public education with the social and productive reality of the country.”
