The delegate of the Government in Cantabria, Eugenia Gómez de Diego, participated this Wednesday in the III Gala of Commerce, Industry and Hospitality of Torrelavega, held at the Concha Espina Theater, where she highlighted the fundamental role of the business fabric of Torrelavega and the region of Besaya in the generation of employment and wealth.
"Torrelavega, with its industrial and commercial history, is a reference in Cantabria, and this gala is a fair recognition of the effort and commitment of entrepreneurs, self-employed people, hoteliers and merchants," he said.
The delegate highlighted the measures promoted by the Government of Spain to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), emphasizing the Digital Kit program, which has benefited 4,670 SMEs and self-employed in Cantabria with an investment of 19.9 million euros. "Never in the history of Spain has a similar volume of resources been deployed to modernize our productive fabric," he stressed.
In addition, Gómez de Diego has highlighted the commitment of the Executive of Pedro Sánchez to the industrial development of Cantabria, exemplified in the investments destined to Solvay Quimica. Thus, he recalled that the company has received a support of 30 million euros for its decarbonization project, as announced during the visit of the Minister of Industry and Tourism, Jordi Hereu, and the support of the third vice-president and Minister for Ecological Transition, Sara Aagesen.
Precisely, during the event, which recognizes business excellence in the region, Solvay Quimica has been distinguished with the industry award for its significant contribution to the industrial development of Torrelavega and Cantabria.
Finally, Gómez de Diego congratulated the organizers and winners, highlighting their "innovative spirit and their contribution to the economic and business dynamism of Cantabria".
The gala, organized by the City of Torrelavega in collaboration with the Chamber of Commerce, has brought together outstanding representatives of commerce, industry and hospitality in the region, consolidating itself as an outstanding event for the recognition of talent and entrepreneurial effort.
