The Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility has ceded to the City of Colindres the ownership of one section of the N-634 road and another in the N-629, after investing 530,000 euros in adapting these roads to the transit of pedestrians and improving their urban integration as they pass through this Cantabrian town.
Through this action, financed with the European funds NextGenerationEU, the accessibility conditions in pedestrian crossings have been improved and architectural barriers in pedestrian itineraries have been eliminated.
The pavement has also been replaced on deteriorated sidewalks, the current luminaires have been replaced by luminaires with LED technology, along with the installation of new units, and the traffic lights have been changed on the crossing and LED headlights have been installed in steps of intelligent pedestrians.
The respective sections, which include the area that affects the infrastructure including all the roads, sidewalks and islets defined in the humanization project, are a 1.7 kilometer stretch of the N-634 between the kilometer points 172 and 173,635, and a 534 meter stretch of the N-629, from the kilometer 86,900 to 87,440.
The transfer took effect on October 16 and the change of ownership does not entail any transfer of capital, nor does it generate economic obligations or expenditure for the General Administration of the State. Thus, the City of Colindres assumes ownership of both sections and spaces, being responsible for their conservation, defense and exploitation.
Cession of another section in Liérganes
On the other hand, the Ministry of Transport has also ceded to the City of Liérganes the ownership of another section of the N-634 road, as it passes through the town of Pámanes, after completing the works carried out to improve the mobility of pedestrians.
It is the stretch between the kilometers 202,893 and 206,435, with a length of 3.56 km and an estimated area of 80,753 m2, and in whose conditioning 590,562 euros (VAT included) have been invested in the framework of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan.
The action has consisted of creating a more inclusive, accessible and sustainable urban environment, through the creation of a safe pedestrian itinerary, to give continuity to the existing one between the municipal terms of Penagos and Medio Cudeyo.
This has led to a reduction in the speed of road traffic, improving road safety and that of the most vulnerable users.
