The delegate of the Government in Cantabria, Eugenia Gómez de Diego, together with the Superior Chief of Police, Carmen Martínez, visited today the facilities of the Commissariat located in Calle López Dóriga de Santander, where the new system of issuance of the so-called 'DNI Exprés' has been put into operation.
"The new module, which is already in operation, allows simultaneous assistance to two people by a single dispatcher - maintaining the privacy of each citizen - in the renewal of the ID, which will speed up the attention to the public and reduce waiting times," explained Gómez de Diego.
In addition, as the delegate pointed out, citizens who do not need to modify the data will no longer need to provide photography, since it is obtained in situ.
"In addition to facilitating and speeding up the procedures for citizens, this will mean an increase in the security of the expedition, avoiding any possibility of impersonation or usurpation of identity, together with the fact that this system also allows the capture of other biometric data of the ID holder at the time of its renewal, as well as customizing the password for access to the electronic certificates stored in the chip of the document," said Gómez de Diego.
This new system is part of the Digital Identity Plan activated by the National Police within the framework of the measures promoted by the Public Administration to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of its administrative procedures, allowing access, verification and treatment of information more accessible, agile and secure.
The Digital Identity Plan involves a renewal and expansion of the Documentation Update Posts, to activate and update ID certificates, password change and data consultation and electronic ID verification operations.
Multiple Expedition Module
The Superior Police Headquarters of Cantabria has assigned a Multiple Expedition Module, also called DNI Exprés, which is installed in the Documentation Unit, located in Calle José Ramón López Dóriga de Santander.
This module has two cabins, for simultaneous use by two people who will be served by a single official, guaranteeing the privacy of users, which will allow to reduce waiting times.
This new service can be used by those citizens who are going to renew their ID and meet the following requirements:
· Physically carrying the D.N.I.
· That the expedition does not require any change of data.
· That the chip reading is accessible.
Citizens who meet the established requirements will no longer need to provide photography, since it is obtained in situ through the Module itself.
