The delegate of the Government in Cantabria, Eugenia Gómez de Diego, expressed this morning her "deepest regret" for the death of three people in the collapse and fire of a building in the neighborhood of La Albericia, in Santander. The tragedy, which broke out around 4 a.m., has also left several people injured, including two National Police officers.
"It is a time of pain for everyone and especially for the families and neighbors affected. On behalf of the Government, I would like to express my full support and solidarity in these difficult times," said Gómez de Diego, who also wished for the "prompt recovery" of the people who have been injured.
Likewise, the government delegate, who at 4.30 a.m. went to the scene, thanked all the emergency agents and services for their work, and praised the "immediate and courageous" response from the first moments of the incident.
Among the injured are two national police officers, one affected by smoke inhalation when rescuing a girl who was in the building, and another with a broken finger.
At this time, the emergency teams continue with the demolition work, while investigating the possible causes of the accident, which have not yet been determined.
In the event, agents from the Citizen Assistance Group, the Homicide and Incidents Group of the Provincial Judicial Police Brigade, the Provincial Scientific Police Brigade and TEDAX-NRBQ are intervening.
