The Cantabrian CH has begun the maintenance, conservation and improvement works in the stream of the Molino del Concejo and its tributary, the stream of the Cubo, between the towns of Vallines and Larteme, in the municipality of Valdáliga. These works are carried out with the aim of avoiding or reducing the risk of overflow of the stream.
The proceedings are executed in 2334 m of course and have an initial budget of 56 000 €. The main tasks are the removal of plant remains accumulated in the riverbed, as well as the removal of dry, sick, fallen or threatened trees, in order to maintain the drainage capacity of the riverbed and avoid possible flooding and damage to infrastructure.
This work is carried out through the public company Tragsa within the Maintenance and Conservation of Waterways Program developed by the Cantabrian Hydrographic Confederation outside urban areas, since in urban areas the conservation and maintenance of waterways are the responsibility of the municipalities.
In the year 2023, the investment made in conservation and maintenance works of waterways in Cantabria was 1.55 million euros, distributed in 62 actions in 33 municipalities.
