The government delegate in Cantabria, Eugenia Gómez de Diego, today highlighted the importance of collaboration between the State Security Forces and Corps (FCSE) and private security in the construction of a safer society.
In the framework of the Private Security Day, which is officially celebrated on May 21, Gómez de Diego has presided over an event in Santander in which he has highlighted the "indisputable" work carried out by private security companies and their workers.
"You are indispensable collaborators for the prevention of crime and the protection of people and property," said the delegate, who stressed that private security is configured as a "special assistant and collaborator" of the State Security Forces.
Gómez de Diego recalled that security "is not only a legal, normative or political value, it is also a social value". "It is one of the primary pillars of society, it lies at the foundation of freedom and equality and contributes to the full development of individuals," he added.
In this sense, he has highlighted the "trust" that Spanish society places in private security professionals, whom he considers "people to be able to trust and who can be asked for help in case of need".
The delegate stressed that Spain is "one of the safest countries in the world" and that Cantabria is one of the autonomous communities with a lower crime rate. "I think we can be proud of that," he said.
Gómez de Diego concluded his speech by thanking private security professionals for their "service" and "daily work, putting collective well-being before your own security on many occasions."
“It is fair to recognize the special work that private security companies and all their workers do. You are indisputable collaborators of the State Security Forces and Corps to guarantee the high degree of security to our society, which is one of the factors that has most contributed to strengthening our institutions by allowing a model of peaceful and tolerant, accessible and inclusive social coexistence,” he said.
The 22nd Anniversary of Private Security Day, which has been attended by numerous companies in the sector and authorities, has been organized by the Commission of Private Security Companies of Cantabria, in coordination with the Government Delegation.
