The Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility has formalized 172.9 million euros (VAT included) works to expand the capacity of the A-67 motorway between Polanco and Santander.
The section in which action is taken has an approximate length of 13 km, where the links of Polanco, Oruña, Boo, Mompía and Igollo are located and the service area of Gornazo, corresponding to the A-67 “Cantabria – Meseta” motorway.
The main objective is to improve the capacity and safety, expanding the cross-section of both roads since it will have a third lane additional to the existing ones.
In addition, on the current layout of the A-67 motorway, a series of improvements are made such as: widening of radius of the curves, elimination of certain alignments, widening of edges to increase visibility, medium widening or improving the safety of the links by replacing intersections with roundabouts or increasing the radius of the existing roundabouts.
The performance is located in the main communication corridor between Santander and Torrelavega, located in the municipal areas of Polanco, Miengo, Piélagos, Santa Cruz de Bezana and Camargo.
It should be noted that the BIM (Building Information Modeling) methodology is incorporated for the first time. The application of this methodology both in the modeling phase of the project and in the construction phase allows to optimize the resources in both phases and in the subsequent maintenance of the infrastructure, thus generating long-term value. This adoption of the BIM demonstrates the Ministry’s commitment to being at the forefront of technology and innovation in construction, providing more effective and sustainable solutions for our infrastructures.
