The delegate of the Government in Cantabria, Eugenia Gómez de Diego, visited today the Military Center of Horse Breeding of Ibio, coinciding with the celebration of the act of presentation of stallions in an open day.
In a statement, Gómez de Diego highlighted the work carried out at the Center, which focuses on the upbringing, selection and provision of the Armies, the Royal Guard and the units, centers and agencies that, within the scope of the Ministry of Defense, are determined to fulfill their mission.
The delegate highlighted the importance of the Military Horse Breeding Center of Ibio, “not only for its work of horse breeding, but also for its contribution to the economic and social development of the area.”
In its facilities, employment workshops are also developed in collaboration with the State Public Employment Service (SEPE) and the Government of Cantabria, as well as practices of students from different Vocational Training modules.
Thus, according to Gómez de Diego, an Employment Workshop is currently being held at the Military Center, aimed at unemployed people over 25 years of age, which will end next May.
During the duration of the workshop, alternation training contracts are formalized and in the formative part of them three professional certificates are taught: Care and handling of the horse, Horse Grazing and Basic Masonry.
About Ibio Military Cavalry Breeding Center
The Military Center of Horse Breeding of Ibio, located in the municipality of Mazcuerras, was created by ministerial order in 2006 with the transfer of the Stallion Depot that was located on the farm of La Remonta de Santander and that was created in 1920.
For its part, the Yeguada de Ibio was created on September 27, 1972 with the purchase by the State of the property known as Casa de la Guerra, with an extension of 30 hectares, in the terms of Ibio and Herrera de Ibio.
