The Government Delegation in Cantabria informs that the Centre for Legal Studies (CEJ), a body attached to the Ministry of Justice, has published the definitive list of the 792 beneficiaries and alternates of its second call for applications for the stock exchange program for the preparation of evidence of access to the judicial and fiscal career, to the Body of Lawyers of the Administration of Justice and to that of State Lawyers.
Of these scholarships, 10 were awarded in Cantabria (8 women and 2 men) with an annual amount of 6,611 euros. The overall amount earmarked for this second call is 5,239,880 euros, of which 66,110 euros correspond to the grants awarded in Cantabria.
The delegate of the Government in Cantabria, Ainoa Quiñones, has affirmed that these scholarships from the Ministry of Justice “democratize access to the Public Service and come to promote equal opportunities among opponents.”
“It is a huge leap that will allow many young people to decide and take the step to make an opposition because with these scholarships we reduce the socioeconomic gap that has always been a wall in access to the Justice Corps for many people who could not afford to carry out this type of opposition,” he said.
For Quiñones, “these scholarships are going to help ensure that family income is not an obstacle for a person to be a judge or prosecutor, which is a great advance in terms of rights and opportunities that has again been given with the impetus of this Government of Spain presided over by Pedro Sánchez”.
Of the 792 scholarships awarded in this second call, 648 correspond to the tests for access in the judicial and fiscal careers; 120 are destined to the Lawyers Corps of the Administration of Justice; and the remaining 24, to the candidates to be part of the State Lawyers Corps.
Their concession is mainly determined by the level of income of the applicants. In addition, factors such as being victims of gender violence or terrorism were taken into account, and a quota was reserved for applicants with a degree of disability equal to or greater than 33%.
