The Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda (Mitma) will carry out an accident simulation on Thursday, October 5, in the Piedras Blancas tunnel located on the S-30 motorway, in Cantabria. This fact will motivate the closure in both directions of this road, from the links of Herrera de Camargo (km 5) to Revilla de Camargo (km 7).
The traffic closure, including the Piedras Blancas tunnel, will be maintained from 22:00 hours on Thursday, October 5, until 05:00 hours on Friday, October 6. In this period, an alternative route will be established, duly signposted, which will divert traffic to the N-623 and A-67 roads.
The aim of the simulation is to verify the effectiveness of the action protocols established in the Tunnel Self-Protection Plans in the event of an accident inside the tunnel. In this way, the effectiveness in the detection of the accident, the activation of the specific action protocol, the operation of the existing security facilities and the coordination of the actions between the internal and external emergency services of the tunnel is verified.
All this in accordance with Royal Decree 635/2006, of 26 May, on minimum safety requirements in the State road tunnels.
