The Civil Guard of Cantabria will establish next Tuesday, September 12, a special security and traffic device on the occasion of the celebration in the Autonomous Community of the 16th Stage of La Vuelta a España, which will take place between Liencres (Piélagos) and Bejes (Cillorigo de Liébana).
The stage of the Cycling Tour to Spain 2023 through Cantabria will pass through fourteen municipalities of the Autonomous Community and will force to cut three links of the A-67 and A-8 motorways and different regional roads along the route that cyclists will make.
The stage, number 16 of the race, will have a route of 119.7 kilometers and will travel through the municipalities of Piélagos, Polanco, Torrelavega, Reocín, Santillana del Mar, Suances, Alfoz de Lloredo, Ruiloba, Comillas, Valdáliga, San Vicente de la Barquera, Val de San Vicente, Peñamellera Baja (Asturias), Peñarrubia and Cillorigo de Liébana, to culminate in a second category port (529 meters).
In addition to the special device in the Autonomous Community, the Civil Guard creates as in previous years the Mobility and Road Safety Unit that accompanies and protects La Vuelta throughout its journey.
This Mobility and Road Safety Unit (UMSV) is composed of a total of 134 personnel, composed of personnel from the Traffic Grouping, the Reserve and Safety Grouping (ARS), the Air Service, Transmission Service and Motoring.
The fundamental mission of this unit is to provide security and mobility to the La Vuelta corridors, organizational vehicles, support and advertising caravan, as well as to guarantee road safety to the rest of users affected by the development of the event.
To carry out this work, the Traffic Grouping contributes 92 vehicles to the device.
Along with this special unit, in Cantabria a special security and traffic device has also been programmed by the Civil Guard and in which agents of the local police and volunteers of Civil Protection of the municipalities through which the route will pass will also collaborate.
For that special device of the stage La Vuelta in Cantabria, which will take place from 22.00 on Sunday, September 10, to 20.00 on Tuesday 12, the Command of the Civil Guard of Cantabria allocates 121 personnel of the Traffic and Citizen Security Sector.
