The Delegation of the Government of Spain in Cantabria has decorated its facade to join the week of celebrations on the occasion of the International Day of LGTBI Pride and has done so by placing banners on all the balconies of Calvo Sotelo Street.
The delegate of the Government in Cantabria, Ainoa Quiñones, stressed that, with this small gesture, “we join this important day for the LGTBI community but also for the rest of society, since this day claims the fight for an open, tolerant and free society.”
“We join the demand for all social achievements and advances in the fight for LGBTI rights but also to take momentum and continue to achieve new rights,” said Quiñones.
He stressed that “the Government of Spain works to expand the rights of the entire LGBTI community in our country and remain at the forefront of the world in the recognition, support and protection of the rights of all people.”
“When we talk about Pride, we talk about a holiday in the defense of a society that, to be better, has to be more plural, diverse, tolerant, respectful and egalitarian, mainly egalitarian because only from the equality of rights and opportunities for the whole society can the essential progress and well-being be generated in a democracy,” said the delegate.
To this end, he said that “it is essential that the institutions, the Government of Spain, the autonomous governments, the municipalities, fight against any sign of discrimination, implement public policies that recognize that diversity of society from respect and social and legal recognition to all rights and also to condemn hatred and phobias.”
