The Council of Ministers authorized, at its meeting today and on the proposal of the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda (Mitma), the tender of the works of the third lane of the A-67 motorway between Polanco and Santander, for an estimated value of 172.7 million euros (without VAT).
The main objective of the action is to solve the capacity problems and strengthen the safety in this section of the motorway, expanding the cross-section of both roads, which will have an additional lane to the two already existing.
The section that is the object of the intervention has an approximate length of 13 km, in which are the links of Polanco, Oruña, Boo, Mompía and Igollo and the service area of Gornazo, corresponding to the A-67 “Cantabria – Meseta” motorway.
In addition, on the current route of the A-67 motorway, a series of improvements will be made such as: expansion of radius of the curves; elimination of certain alignments; widening of edges, which will allow to increase visibility; expansion of median or improvement of the safety of the links by replacing intersections with roundabouts or increasing the radius of the existing roundabouts.
The intervention is located in the central area of the Autonomous Community of Cantabria, in the great corridor of communication between the two main populations of the region, Santander and Torrelavega, located specifically in the municipal terms of Polanco, Miengo, Piélagos, Santa Cruz de Bezana and Camargo.
