The Government, on the proposal of the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training, has today approved the distribution of 19,348,457 euros to Cantabria for the implementation of different actions in the field of Vocational Training that consolidate the transformation of the VET model in the region.
The total investment for all the autonomous communities amounts to 1,307 million euros, distributed in five agreements in the field of educational quality, modernization, qualification and requalification (reskilling and upskilling), vocational training for employment and reinforcement of training centers.
Quality and modernization of Vocational Training
Specifically, Cantabria will receive a first allocation of 3.4 million euros, aimed at developing measures to modernize and grow the Vocational Training education system, which has a global investment of 299 million.
As part of this first round, the Council of Ministers has approved two agreements. On the one hand, an investment of 273.3 million euros, of which 3 million correspond to Cantabria, destined to actions of the Modernization Plan of the FP, such as the accreditation of professional skills of more than 5,000 people, the creation of bilingual groups, the implementation of 2 applied technology classrooms and the creation of new entrepreneurship classrooms up to a total of 15.
On the other hand, a territorial cooperation program for the promotion of quality actions endowed with 25.7 million, of which Cantabria will receive more than 445,000 euros, which also includes participation in the network of centers of excellence, mobility of teachers and students inside and outside Spain and dissemination actions.
Vocational training for employment, qualification and requalification
The training of workers is another of the fundamental areas of action of these agreements, which allocate a global investment of 867.2 million euros to Vocational Training actions for employment, of which Cantabria will receive more than 14.2 million that will reach more than 3,500 employed and unemployed workers.
In addition, Cantabria will receive another 1.3 million euros to carry out qualification and requalification actions (reskilling and upskilling) that will reach more than 2,400 people. This item has a total investment for all the autonomous communities of 111.5 million, which will benefit more than 203,000 people.
Strengthening the network of digital training centres
Finally, the Council of Ministers has also approved the distribution of more than 317,000 euros to Cantabria to guarantee the operation of the 12 existing training centers in the region and promote the creation of new centers.
In total, this investment line is endowed with 29.3 million euros for the maintenance of 1,047 training centers throughout Spain and the creation of 314. These centres provide basic digital training to people who are vulnerable due to age, level of training, place of residence or belonging to groups at risk of exclusion.
