The mobile phone application ALERTCOPS of the Secretary of State for Security puts into operation from 00.00 hours on this Friday, April 14, a new exclusive tab for the Camino Lebaniego, with functions similar to those already existing for the Camino de Santiago.
In this application, which is available to download on both Android systems and IOs, you can receive alerts and messages related to security on the Lebaniego Way, being very useful for pilgrims.
With the ‘Guardian’ function of the Lebaniego Way, pilgrims will be able to share their position with the Civil Guard, which would facilitate their assistance in case of emergency. There is also the ‘Private Guardian’, thus sharing the positions with people you trust.
This free app has multiple utilities, being able to communicate any alert or emergency from the mobile device in real time. It also has ‘Chat’, which in case of being a victim or witness of a criminal act, allows you to send photos and videos, all this to get a faster response.
On the other hand, it has an SOS button, which allows you to send an immediate warning to your guardians, providing them with the location and a 10-second audio.
Security device
The Civil Guard of Cantabria will deploy on April 16, on the occasion of the opening of the Door of Forgiveness in the Monastery of Santo Toribio de Liébana, a special security device composed of more than 270 agents, distributed in eleven specialties.
This operation of maintenance of public order, protection of public safety and road safety aims to guarantee the normal functioning of the programmed activities. Permanent coordination is also established with the Civil Guard Commanders bordering the area from which the arrival of pilgrims is expected.
The Civil Guard recommends that all people who attend the great event of the opening of the Door of Forgiveness address uniformed personnel in any situation that requires assistance.
