The delegate of the Government in the Canary Islands, Anselmo Pestana, accompanied by the subdelegate of the Government in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Javier Plata, and by the general director of the Public Service of State Employment (SEPE), Gerardo Gutiérrez, has inaugurated today the Days of directors and provincial directors of the SEPE, which are held until tomorrow in the municipality of Puerto de la Cruz.
These days, which bring together the entire structure of the SEPE, both central and peripheral, serve as a forum to share and discuss the most relevant management issues and count on the collaboration of various administrations and agencies, underlining the integrative and multidisciplinary nature of the meeting.
“In a context as challenging as the present one, it is essential to value the work of provincial directors and directors, as well as that of all staff, who day after day work in a committed way to support the general citizenry. If anything has become clear in recent years, it is the strength, dedication and commitment of our employees and public employees, especially in times of crisis,” said Anselmo Pestana, who has set as an example of this “ability to adapt and deliver to the service of the most vulnerable” in extraordinary situations the Covid-19 pandemic and the eruption of the volcano in La Palma.
In La Palma, “despite the difficulties and the human drama experienced on the island, SEPE personnel were again at the forefront, managing almost two thousand benefits with an investment of more than thirteen million euros, to ensure that the people affected could have the necessary resources to allow them to face the situation, helping companies and families to recover in the midst of the tragedy. The rapid, effective and humane response to this emergency demonstrates once again the commitment of public employees and employees to the well-being of our society,” he added.
The government delegate in the Canary Islands wanted to thank the officials of the SEPE for their dedication and also recognized that they and they have been “those who have made it possible for thousands of families to recover a glimmer of hope after the difficulties”, transforming situations of adversity “into opportunities for recovery and growth”.
This year, the Provincial Directorate of the SEPE in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, recognized with the seal of excellence according to the EVAM Model in 2024, has been in charge of organizing the days, with the conviction that it will be a fruitful meeting in terms of administrative management and interinstitutional collaboration.
