The deputy delegate of the Government in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Javier Plata, accompanied by the island director of the General Administration of the State in office, Ramón Acevedo, inaugurated today in El Hierro the III Conference for Equality and against Violence against Women organized by the Units against Violence against Women of the General Administration of the State in the western province of Canary Islands.
The inauguration took place in the Insular Directorate of the General Administration of the State in El Hierro with the first session of which, until next November, will also be held in the islands of Tenerife, La Palma and La Gomera under the theme of protection of minors.
“Today we inaugurate a new edition of our conference, with which, from our Units against Violence against Women, we seek to reach all the groups involved in the fight against abuse and inequality. It is a work on the ground that takes us to all corners of our archipelago. And that is why on this occasion we wanted to start with El Hierro, where the State is also present in the fight against male violence,” says Javier Plata.
“From the different angles that affect gender violence, we wanted to focus on the protection of the most vulnerable victims of all, girls and boys, whom the VioGén System of the Ministry of the Interior also tries to protect against abusers. As a deputy delegate of the Government, I thank all those groups, organizations, institutions and professionals who are going to participate in these training sessions during the coming months in the province”, he adds.
These days are part of the initiatives organized for the last quarter of the year by the Units against Violence against Women of the headquarters of the Government Delegation in the Canary Islands in the western province, among which is the training of local police officers on the operation of the VioGén System of the Ministry of the Interior for the protection of victims of gender violence and their daughters and sons.
Las III Conference for Equality and against Violence against Women They are aimed at workers from social services, NGOs, security forces and bodies and all those professional groups that in one way or another participate in the protection of minors.
In this inaugural session, the prosecutor Marta Dávila, of the Juvenile Court of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, spoke with a presentation entitled Domestic violence and the protection of children.
