The new island director of the General Administration of the State in La Palma, Carlos García, has taken office today at the headquarters of the Island Directorate in Santa Cruz de La Palma after being appointed by the Government delegate in the Canary Islands, Anselmo Pestana.
Carlos García has taken office as island director in La Palma in the presence of the government delegate in the Canary Islands and the government subdelegate in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Javier Plata, along with other civil and military authorities.
With a degree in Law from the University of La Laguna (ULL) and a career officer from the Technical Scale of General Administration of Local Administration, Carlos García has held several functions in the Cabildo de La Palma since 2006 in the Departments of Social Action, Presidency and Tourism, occupying, among others, the Head of Service of the Tourism Area, the Secretariat of the Sectoral Council of Tourism and the Technical Coordination of the Tourist Interest Centers of the island of La Palma.
The new island director in La Palma, who has also worked in the City Hall of Santa Cruz de La Palma between 2004 and 2006, occupied since May 2023 the Service Headquarters in the Support Unit for the Environmental Organ of La Palma, in the Area of Natural Environment, Ecological Transition and Climate Change of the Cabildo de La Palma, developing, therefore, the Secretariat of the Environmental Commission of La Palma.
