The Insular Directorate of the General Administration of the State in Fuerteventura held this Wednesday the first round table of its cycle Meetings with the presence of a woman, organized in the framework of activities for International Women's Day, 8M, and with the participation of three women from the State Security Forces and Armed Forces.
The event, held in Puerto del Rosario, at the headquarters of the Island Directorate in Fuerteventura, featured first-hand testimonies of women working in the security field, such as María del Sol Jiménez, captain of the Soria 9 Light Infantry Regiment of the Spanish Army; María Luisa García, agent of the Civil Guard, and Susana Gómez, sub-inspector of the National Police. The round table was moderated by Ángela Fleitas, lawyer of the Federation of Women's Associations Arena and Laurisilva.
The island director in Fuerteventura has been very satisfied with the development of this first session of the cycle Encounters with the presence of women: “It is a pride to be able to organize sessions like these on the island. We must highlight the work done by women in all professional fields, also and particularly in the field of security, traditionally dominated by men. And you have to recognize that work throughout the year, not only at this time,” he said.
“I believe that equality in all areas is the way forward for our society and from the Insular Directorate we will continue to contribute to the progress made by the Government of Spain. This call is the first, but soon we will continue to organize similar events on the island,” added María Jesús de la Cruz.
