In the early morning of October 5, the UME agents, as well as the BRIF brigades in La Palma, were deployed before the reactivation of the Arafo-Candelaria Forest Fire, in the area of Pino Alto and La Corujera, in the municipality of Santa Úrsula.
After the declaration of Level 2 of the Government of the Canary Islands at 23:45 on Wednesday, October 4, 119 UME soldiers have joined the work of extinction with 36 media, as well as the air media located at the bases of BRIF of Puntagorda in La Palma, to work in a coordinated way with the media of the Government of the Canary Islands and the Cabildo of Tenerife.
In addition, 20 officers from the Civil Guard and the National Police have been added to support the organization and eviction of the affected areas.
On the morning of the 5th, the Advanced Command Post was located on the Ancient Calvary Road from where more than 160 ground troops and a total of 10 air mediums are coordinated. The pavilions of Quiquirá in La Orotava and the Municipal Sports Pavilion of Santa Úrsula have also been enabled, in which 133 people have been served during the night.
Since the declaration of fire on the morning of Wednesday, October 4, the flames have consumed an area close to 60 hectares and some 2,900 people have been evacuated.
