The Government Delegation in the Canary Islands celebrates Open Administration Week 2023 through a series of activities that will take place in the islands of Gran Canaria, Tenerife, La Palma, La Gomera and El Hierro from March 20 to 24.
This initiative, coordinated and promoted by the General Directorate of Public Governance of the Government of Spain and framed in the International Alliance for Open Government, seeks to bring Public Administrations closer to the citizens, based on the principles of transparency, accountability, citizen participation, public integrity and collaboration.
“This year we have redoubled our efforts to bring the State Administration closer to all corners of the Canary Islands. We are arriving with the plan ‘The Administration near you’ to the less populated municipalities. And next week we want to welcome all citizens to our headquarters, with open doors, so that they know our work first-hand”, says the government delegate in the Canary Islands.
“We have prepared a program of activities designed for citizenship, and we therefore want you to come to our invitation, find our headquarters on your island and come to share with us this initiative. All of us, not only authorities and public employees and employees, but also citizens, are part of the State and its Administration,” he adds.
From Monday 20th to Friday 24th March
The inauguration of the Open Administration Week will be carried out by the Government delegate from the Insular Directorate of the General Administration of the State in La Palma, where he will be accompanied by the island director, Ana de León, and who will be joined by videoconference by the subdelegates of the Government in Las Palmas, Teresa Mayans, and in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Javier Plata, the island directors Juan Luis Navarro (La Gomera), Juan Ramón Pérez (Lanzarote) and José Carlos Hernández (El Benito Insular), and Benito Garcia.
In Gran Canaria, the Delegation of the Government in the Canary Islands and the Subdelegation of the Government in Las Palmas have organized for their headquarters in the capital of Gran Canaria during the Open Administration Week a series of open days with which they intend to publicize the services that the General Administration of the State offers in the Archipelago.
During these days representatives of the different services both integrated and not integrated in the Government Delegation will inform the citizens of the most outstanding and practical aspects of their work, particularly on 20, 21 and 23 March, and to this will be added the guided visits to the building of the Plaza de la Feria de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria that will take place early in the morning from Tuesday 21 to Friday 24 March.
The inter-administrative collaboration will take place on Wednesday, March 22, with the presence of representatives of the Government of the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands and the Cabildo of Gran Canaria to analyze the opportunities and subsidies existing around renewable energies and energy efficiency and safety in pyrotechnic shows.
On Friday, March 24, the National Police and Civil Guard will deploy a representation of their technical and operational means in the Plaza de la Feria in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria so that citizens can see at first hand the work of the State Security Forces and Bodies, and on the same day the investigations underway in the complementary R+D+i plans promoted by the Ministry of Science and Innovation in collaboration with the Autonomous Communities and financed with European funds will be presented.
In Tenerife, the Subdelegation of the Government in Santa Cruz de Tenerife has organized a series of days with which it intends to publicize the activity and services it offers, giving visibility also to the work of the Units of Agriculture and Fisheries and of Health and Social Policy.
The program of activities, which includes an information day for the acquisition of talent, is intended for the general public, with particular interest in people who require more information on the functioning of the Electronic Administration and groups of university students of branches related to the subjects of competence of the Government Subdelegation in Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
In La Palma, the Insular Directorate of the General Administration of the State organizes a series of days to inform about the Plan "The Administration near you" that has been launched by the Ministry of Territorial Policy to facilitate that the inhabitants of the less populated municipalities do not have to travel and can carry out the procedures from their localities of residence.
In these days, information will also be offered on the main areas of work and procedures relevant to citizenship carried out by the Island Directorate in La Palma and will be facilitated to the people who request it to obtain digital certificates for their identification and electronic signature.
In addition, on Friday, March 24, MEP Gabriel Mato, accompanied by the government delegate in the Canary Islands, will give the presentation Instruments of public participation in the European parliamentary framework at the headquarters of the Insular Directorate in Santa Cruz de La Palma.
In La Gomera, the Insular Directorate of the General Administration of the State organizes a series of days to spread among the citizens some of the main aspects of the administrative activity carried out on the island, as well as to offer information on cybersecurity, the Plan "The Administration near you" and the acquisition of talent.
In addition, from March 20 to 24, the headquarters of the Insular Directorate of the General Administration of the State in the capital Gomera will host a pictorial exhibition by the Gomero artist Pompeyo Curbelo.
In El Hierro, the Insular Directorate has organized for March 21 an open day in which it invites the citizens of the island to visit its headquarters to know closely the services it offers and the operation of the e-Government, as well as the Plan "The Administration near you".
