The Government delegate, Adriana Lastra, highlighted on Thursday the investment of the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility in works to strengthen tunnel safety in Asturias, amounting to 109.3 million euros under the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan (PRTR), during a visit to the modernization actions of the control center of Deva, in Gijón.
Together with the Government delegate, the head of the State Road Demarcation in Asturias, Mireya Muñoz, and the head of the Promotion Area of the Government Delegation in Asturias, Juan Fernández, visited the control center.
The works to improve the safety and comfort of the users are being carried out on 16 tunnels, which add up to more than 37 kilometers of the State Road Network in Asturias.
Specifically, these are the tunnels of Pando, Vegaviesga, Entrerregueras, Negrón, Oblanca, Cosera and Barrios, belonging to the AP-66 highway, with a budget of 68.1 million.
Likewise, there is intervention in the tunnels of Brañaviella, Cefontes, Deva, Fabares, Infanzón, Niévares and Villaviciosa, on the A-8 and A-64 motorways, with a budget of 33.9 million; and in the tunnels of Ángel Uriel and El Padrún, on the A-66 motorway, with a budget of 7.2 million euros, about to conclude.
The rest of the tunnels on the A-8 have also recently been adapted to the west: Jarrio and Rellón, for 4 million; and to the east: El Carmen, Llovio, Tezangos, El Fabar, Arenal de Morís and Duesas, for 12.3 million.
