The Demarcation of Coasts of the State in Asturias, an organization dependent on the General Directorate of the Coast and the Sea (Ministry for Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge), begins on Monday, September 23, the works for the environmental restoration of the beaches of San Juan de Nieva and El Espartal, in Castrillón.
The works begin after the summer to minimize the inconvenience to the users of the sandals. The collection of materials in the immediate vicinity of the work has already begun and on Monday the necessary roadblocks will be lifted and restrictions will be established on pedestrian traffic.
It is an action with a budget of 1,961,643.93 euros and an execution period of nine months that will be undertaken by the Tragsa Group under the Ecological Restoration and Resilience Fund.
The works consist of the integral replacement of the network of gateways that are deteriorated at some points. In addition, it will try to vegetate the most active portions of the dune through the use of sand catchers and new dune plantations in the spaces where artificial erosion has been detected.
