The Government Delegation in Asturias has decided to award the highest distinction of the Meninas 2024 recognitions to Marián Moreno, for his commitment to equality between women and men and the fight against gender violence developed throughout his life and professional trajectory, placing the emphasis on education in equality.
Moreno is a teacher, writer and expert in coeducation. Since 2020 she has been a coeducation advisor at the Asturian Institute of Women where she has developed an intense work promoting the implementation of the Coeducastur program.
The Meninas recognitions are promoted by the Government Delegation for Gender Violence and are given in all Government delegations at the end of November on the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. The Government Delegation in Asturias has compiled in recent weeks the proposals for the recognitions provided by several institutions and agencies.
The Government Delegation in Asturias has also agreed to grant three special mentions:
- VICOP of the Local Police of Gijón: For his work of monitoring, surveillance and control of the protection orders adopted in the east of the city, his work coordinated with the National Police, Civil Guard and the Women's Advisory Center, and his professional and personal involvement in the protection of victims of gender violence in the municipality.
- Gender Violence Unit of the Local Police of Oviedo: For her professionalism and involvement for many years in acting with victims of gender violence, having her own technical unit for the protection of victims, being one of the local police pioneers in working with victims.
- Network of Labour Counsellors on Gender Violence of the Public Employment Service of the Principality of Asturias: A network made up of a total of 22 professionals offering regional coverage from the employment offices in Asturias, with specific training in gender violence. Its objective is to contribute to the recovery of women victims of gender violence based on an improvement in their employability and the recovery of their personal autonomy through itineraries created for it.
