The Government Delegation in Asturias has already opened the call to participate in the Master Plan for Coexistence and Improvement of Security in Educational Centers and their Environments in the academic year 2024-2025.
This plan of the Ministry of the Interior was created by the central government in 2007 and is coordinated by the Government Delegations. This initiative aims to improve the coexistence and safety of schoolchildren and also to increase confidence in the State Security Forces and Corps. The Master Plan is embodied in lectures given by the Civil Guard and the National Police in schools, meetings with security experts and the improvement of surveillance in the school environment. Schools that wish to do so are free to sign up to the plan.
In the last school year 322 educational centers from 53 councils participated in the Master Plan, they are 87 percent of the total number of centers in Asturias, thirteen points more than in the last year. In total, the plan reached 55,000 students of non-university education.
The most demanded activities were those related to internet risks, but others are taught on violent youth groups, hate crimes and discrimination, alcohol and drug consumption, bullying and cyberbullying, gender violence and cyberviolence, violence against the educational community, prevention of sexual crimes, road safety and nature protection. Sessions on these topics can be requested for both students and teachers or families.
To apply for participation in the Plan, schools must submit the registration form by email to the address plandirector.asturias@correo.gob.es by October 31, 2024. The file, together with an information circular, has been sent from the Government Delegation to all non-university educational centers in the Principality of Asturias. It can also be downloaded from the Educastur portal. Once received, the coordinators of the State Security Forces and Corps will contact the heads of the educational centers to agree on the timetable and other circumstances of their intervention.
