The meeting showed the excellent collaboration and coordination between the Civil Guard, the Local Police and the organization of the party. As in previous years, security will be increased in the days of the festival that this year extends its activities both day and night.
The government delegate stressed that Nava “is a very quiet and safe council”, since the crime rate is among the lowest in Asturias, with 18.7 criminal offenses per thousand inhabitants between June 2023 and May 2024. The latest statistics from the Ministry of the Interior reveal that Asturias remains the second safest autonomous community in the country, with 34.1 crimes per thousand inhabitants, 17.5 points less than the national average.
A Violet Point will be located at the Cider Festival to inform about how to act in the face of possible machista attacks and to attend to the victims. Nava is one of the ten municipalities in Asturias that has signed an agreement with the Ministry of the Interior to follow up the victims of gender violence: to date in the council there are nine women with protection, three with low level of risk and six with unappreciated risk.
In addition, the Government delegate thanked the municipal government team for its interest in two initiatives of the Government of Spain: the Master Plan for Coexistence and Improvement of Security in Educational Centers and their Environments and the Greater Security Plan. In the first, two of the three educational centers of Nava have requested the talks given by the State Security Forces and Bodies to the students on cybersecurity, harassment or gender violence. And on the plan aimed at the elderly, two centers participate in this initiative that reports on prevention in the field of security.
In addition to the Government delegate and the mayor, representatives of the Civil Guard, the Local Police of Nava, councillors of the City of Nava, the Deputy Secretary General of the Government Delegation and officials of Transinsa and the private security company contracted for the Cider Festival have attended the Local Security Board.
