The delegate of the Government, Delia Losa, visited this morning the facilities of the State Mobile Park, the place where the necessary material for the celebration of the elections to the European Parliament next Sunday has been stored.
The Government Delegation in Asturias has had a budget of 973,895.61 euros for the economic management of the process and which includes the contracting of electoral material, bonuses for representatives of the Administration, diets for members of the polling stations or to cover the cost of the travel of hospitalized voters.
Among the contracted material, the more than 35 million ballot papers commissioned stand out. They are destined to the 642 electoral venues in Asturias, to the CERA vote, to the postal vote and to the consulates. There have also been 16,000 session and ballot papers distributed among the polling stations.
The Ministry of the Interior supplies the ballot boxes, booths or signage stands for premises that are requested. For these elections, the ministry has contributed 156 new ballot boxes and 50 booths. The remaining material needed for the 1,212 polling stations is preserved from previous elections.
The Government Delegation is responsible for appointing the 737 representatives of the Administration, of whom 642 are responsible for transmitting to the Data Processing Centre the results of the provisional ballot at the polling stations. They are also responsible for communicating data on incidents in the constitution of the polling stations and ensuring that there is sufficient electoral material in the schools. At the headquarters of the Government Delegation there will be about 25 people working on the day of the elections to coordinate representatives, transmit data, provide assistance and resolve incidents.
The Government Delegation is also responsible for processing requests for sign language interpreters for members of polling stations in collaboration with the State Confederation of Deaf Persons. To date, we have not received any requests. In addition, 19 people have requested the accessible voting kit.
The Government Delegation is responsible for managing and financing health transport for people who are admitted to hospitals and who wish to vote. The Civil Protection Unit will receive the needs of the hospitals this Friday and will be communicated to Transinsa, which will take care of these displacements. The Government Delegation also provides transportation to people who need help to go to their polling station. At the moment, 25 municipalities have requested this service.
To guarantee security in the electoral premises, there will be a Security Forces and Corps device made up of 2,070 people: 1,425 civilian guards, 554 national police and 90 local police.
On June 9, 962,000 people have the right to vote in Asturias, of which 127,418 reside abroad. In addition, 1,893 foreigners residing in Asturias will exercise their right to vote in person here. Correos has admitted 16,671 requests to vote by mail in Asturias.
