The government delegate, Delia Losa, visited this morning the control center that Aucalsa has in the AP-66 in La Ablaneda together with the subdelegate of the Government in León, Faustino Sánchez, and the general director of Aucalsa, Eduardo Arrojo. After visiting the facilities, they met to coordinate the winter road protocols of the two government delegations and the motorway concession company.
All the parties have noted the excellent coordination when the pre-emergency phase in the protocols is activated in anticipation of snow falling on the highway: a coordination center is constituted in La Ablaneda formed by members of the Civil Guard of Asturias and Castilla y León, traffic managers and technicians of Aucalsa.
The delegate of the Government in Asturias recalled that the winter road plan for the state roads that run through Asturias has 52 snow-removing machines, half a million liters of brine and 9,900 tons of foundations throughout Asturias. They are the same figures as last year and include Aucalsa’s media in the Asturian side of the AP-66: seven trucks with blade and flux spreader, a dynamic snowplow and a shovel loader of fluxes. In the Leonese part, the concessionaire’s device has seven trucks with a blade and flux spreader and two shovels with flux loaders. Aucalsa incorporates into its fleet a three-axle truck equipped with a high-capacity salt spreader and snowplow blade.
In addition, the coordination meeting reviewed the winter road campaign 2022-2023 on the AP-66, which was one of the most favorable of the historic motorway. A greater virulence was perceived in the few episodes of snow that occurred. For example, in order to maintain the highway on January 18 and 19, 2023, it was necessary to use more tons of flux than in the whole of the previous campaign 2021-2022. There were only traffic restrictions during those two days of January: restriction to light vehicles without winter tyres for one hour and forty-five minutes and three restrictions to heavy vehicles with a total duration of ten hours and thirty minutes.
