The Government delegate in Asturias, Delia Losa, has participated in the institutional event on the occasion of the National Police Day, one of the “most respected and prestigious” institutions in Spain, as she said in her speech.
Losa thanked the 1,517 national police in Asturias for their work as “a trusted reference for the citizens”, and recalled that thanks to their work, Asturias continues to be the autonomous community with the second lowest crime rate in the country. The latest data provided by the Ministry of the Interior reveal that in the first six months of the year there were 32.4 criminal offenses per 1,000 inhabitants, 16 points less than the national average. However, the government delegate has expressed concern about the 25 percent increase in crimes against sexual freedom. And the “effectiveness” of the State Security Forces has been highlighted as a positive fact, since in the first half of the year they clarified 61.6 percent of the infractions, 16 points more than in the same period of 2022.
The delegate of the Government recalled that the staff of the Civil Guard and the National Police have registered this summer their “historic maximum”, with 3,625 troops, 9.1 percent more than five years ago. “It has been possible thanks to the five successive offers of public employment convened by this Government, achieving replacement rates of more than one hundred percent,” he said, concluding that these data “speak without a doubt of the importance we give to security and to the Forces and Bodies as the maximum guarantors of peaceful coexistence.”
