The Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda (Mitma), through the General Directorate of Housing and Land, has signed today with the Government of the Principality of Asturias an agreement to build 236 homes in energy-efficient buildings for social rent and/or affordable price in eight municipalities. The Ministry will co-finance projects from NextGenerationEU funds with 9.4 million euros, within the framework of the Transformation and Resilience Recovery Plan (PRTR).
The Principality of Asturias will implement the promotion of housing directly through the General Directorate of Housing, in plots of its ownership, attached to the Ministry of Social Rights and Welfare, with the following distribution:
- 24 homes in Llanera.
- 60 homes in Langreo.
- 12 houses in Soto del Barco.
- 48 homes in Laviana.
- 30 homes in Colunga.
- 47 housing units in Mieres.
- 10 homes in Onís.
- 5 homes in Taramundi.
The total estimated investment for these promotions is 30.4 million euros.
The agreement is part of the Program to Help Build Social Rental Housing in Energy-Efficient Buildings, of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan. Through this it is intended to finance the increase of the public park through the promotion of new construction homes on public land, which increase the public park of affordable housing, for a minimum period of 50 years and with a non-renewable primary energy consumption of at least 20% less than the requirements required in the Technical Building Code.
For this programme, endowed with 1 billion euros, Mitma has already transferred 12.1 million euros to the Principality of Asturias, and the financial commitment has been formalized from the annuality of the year 2023 for the same amount. The assistance provided is up to 700 euros per square meter of useful living space with a maximum of 50,000 euros per house.
On December 20, 2022, two agreements were signed with the Principality of Asturias within the scope of this program. The first of these for the financing of 12 homes in Avilés, also developed under public promotion by the Principality itself with a contribution of Mitma of 325,000 euros. The second for the financing of 323 homes in Oviedo, Gijón and Siero, developed in public-private collaboration through the transfer of surface rights, with a contribution of Mitma of 11.8 million euros.
