Faced with the forecast of the State Meteorological Agency that in the next few hours the snow level will fall to 300 meters, the Government Delegation in Asturias has already activated the alert phase of the Winter Road Plan of the state roads in Asturias and will activate the pre-emergency phase tomorrow at 6h.
The warning phase involves the deployment and mobilization of snow removal and salt spreading machines so that they can be used when necessary. In the State Road Network in Asturias there are available 52 snow removal machines, tanks to store 498,000 liters of brine and silos with 9,915 tons of fluxes.
The pre-emergency phase is activated when the intensity of the snowfall makes it possible to foresee difficulties for circulation or when it is expected that falling snow, ice or other circumstances may hinder the transit of vehicles.
- It involves the permanent establishment of the Operational Coordination Centre of the Government Delegation, chaired by the Government Delegate, which also includes the Civil Protection Unit, the Provincial Traffic Headquarters, the State Road Demarcation in Asturias and the Civil Guard.
- The AP-66 Motorway Coordination Center is also established in the La Ablaneda Conservation Center, made up of officials of the Civil Traffic Guard of Asturias and León and technicians of the concessionaire company.
- When necessary there will be traffic restrictions in coordination with the General Directorate of Traffic and the Civil Traffic Guard according to the parameters of the color levels established by the DGT in case of snow on the road.
