Zaragoza.- The government delegate in Aragón, Fernando Beltrán, visited this morning the facilities of Querqus, a company located in La Cartuja (Zaragoza) dedicated to the valorisation of pallets and wooden packaging for industry and logistics. Beltrán has been able to verify, with the help of its managers, the progress in the installation of an automated line of classification and repair of pallets, a project that has received an aid of about 200,000 euros from the PERTE of Circular Economy of the Ministry of Ecological Transition (MITECO).
The delegate highlighted “the firm commitment of the Government of Spain to reindustrialization and the strategic autonomy of our country through the PERTE”. The partial resolution of the Circular Economy PERTE published recently by MITECO has granted a total of 2.4 million euros to three Aragonese companies (ECM, Industrias Quimica Ebro and the aforementioned Querqus). Added to this is the recent resolution of the line dedicated to the circularity of the textile sector, which has proposed an aid of 200,000 euros for the company Rivawood, in Zaragoza.
For Beltrán, this aid “will not only boost the sustainability of these firms, but also have a knock-on effect for the entire Aragonese economy.” The interest in the call for the PERTE dedicated to companies shows that, in view of the large number of quality projects on the waiting list, the Ministry has increased the allocation of aid from the initial 27 million euros to 40.5 million, which will allow new beneficiaries to be added with the following partial resolutions.
95% pallet reuse
Quequs Sustainable Packing, whose headquarters are located in the Zaragoza Recycling Technology Park, is dedicated to the manufacture of pallets and industrial wooden packaging, both new and recycled.
The project for which it has received an aid of 200,000 euros from the MITECO Circular Economy PERTE consists of the installation of a comprehensive automated line for sorting and repairing pallets. The line will be able to discriminate the pallets by typology, separating in turn those susceptible to repair, operative that is currently performed manually. Through this solution, the firm intends to allocate 95% of the managed pallets to preparation for reuse, allocating the remaining 5% to recycling through transformation into other materials such as tacos or boards.
Currently Querqus has a staff of 75 workers with 6 centers of its own in Aragon, Catalonia and Castilla-Leon, its own fleet of trucks and a wide network of collaborators that allow it to move millions of pallets and packaging in the industrial and logistics value chain.
